When full cross-platform play was introduced to Fortnite, so was full cross-platform progression. That last one was a big deal, because it meant that all your progress, V-Bucks, and so on, would carry over across platforms, no matter where or when you played. This was a big deal… except some people had already made alternate accounts to play the game across other platforms when Sony had initially refused to allow cross-platform play for Fortnite.
Epic Games promised an account merger function to allow players to unify their multiple accounts. The feature was initially delayed, but now it is available at last, Epic Games announced today. The process is simple enough, and involves players simply logging in with both accounts, following which everything from the secondary account will be transferred over to the primary one, and then the secondary account will be disabled. The process will take up to two weeks.
With this, this specific bit of cross-platform play controversy is finally finished. Of course, another one seems to be brewing on the horizon currently…
