Nvidia’s cutting edge real-time ray tracing technology has till now been exclusive to some of their latest graphics cards, which also inadvertently end up being the costliest ones around. Those who’ve stuck with older cards, then, have had to make do without their RTX technology- but that’s going to change soon.

Nvidia have now announced that they would be rolling out a driver update in April that will enable ray tracing on roughly a dozen older GeForce GTX graphics cards. That will still be limited to cards that have sufficient performance and memory for basic ray tracing capabilities, and will mostly be limited to low ray counts and basic RT effects, but the range of older cards being supported is nonetheless impressive.

These include the Titan X and Titan XP card, the GTX 1080 and 1070 models, the GTX 1660 cards, Titan V, as well as GTX 1060 6GB cards. You can check out a full list of all the cards being supported in the image below.

In related news, Nvidia have also announced a collaboration with Unity Technologies that will enable ray tracing enabling in games made using the Unity engine. Read more on that through here.
