Halo 5 Won’t Be Getting Added To The Master Chief Collection

343 Industries has no plans to add Halo 5 to the series' mega-collection.

Microsoft announced recently that for the first time since Halo 2’s launch on PC in 2007, the franchise’s mainline games would be returning to the platform with Halo: The Master Chief Collection, coming to both Windows 7 and Windows 10, through not just the Microsoft Store, but also Steam. This would see multiple games in the franchise releasing on PC for the first time, including Halo 3, Halo 3: ODSTHalo 4, as well as Halo: Reach, which is also now being added to the collection (not to mention the Anniversary editions of the first two Halo titles as well).

Which means that now, with the exception of Halo 5: Guardians, all mainline Halo titles will be included in The Master Chief Collection, and playable on PC and Xbox One. So does this mean that Halo 5 too will soon be added to the collection to round out the package, and give PC players access to the entire series in one go? According to 343 Industries, there are no plans to make that happen right now. “Our focus is bringing MCC and Reach to PC,” the developer wrote in an AMA session on Reddit. “There are no current plans to bring over Halo 5.

As early as September of last year, Microsoft re-iterated that Halo 5: Guardians would continue to be an Xbox One exclusive, and that they had no plans to bring it over to PC. This is in line with that, but hopefully, if The Master Chief Collection proves to be successful on PC (which it very well might be), that’ll prompt Microsoft to bring over the final piece of the puzzle as well.
