During their Persona Super Live 2019 concert in Tokyo, Alus finally revealed Persona 5 Royal in full, confirming new details on the game, what it is, when it’ll be out, and a lot more. In addition, a new trailer has also been released, which you can view below, while new screenshots and concept art also give a good look at several new elements from the upcoming RPG, which you can also take a look at in the gallery at the bottom of this article.

Persona 5 Royal is, as many have guessed, a heavily expanded re-release of Persona 5, in vein of Persona 4: Golden. It adds significant new story content, which includes an entire new third playable semester, consisting of new daily school life events (such as a shrine visit on January 1st in the game’s story), as well as new events surrounding the Phantom Thieves, while two new characters have also been added to the game.

The first is Kasumi Yoshizawa, a girl who is an accomplished gymnast, and another transfer student at Shujin Academy and comes to the school the same year as Joker, the protagonist. She apparently has a bit of a thing for the main character, but doesn’t like the Phantom Thieves all too much- her allegiances, at least at the beginning, are unknown.

The second new character is Takuto Maruki, a new Confidant, who was appointed as a counsellor by Shujin Academy after an incident that takes place with a certain teacher in the beginning hours of the game (those who’s played Persona 5 will know what this refers to). He’s said to be a good listener and advisor, and is someone the school’s students seem to like.

A new location is also being added to the game- namely, Kichijoji, a neighbourhood in Tokyo. New date spots, such as an aquarium, have also been added, while the Twins from the Velvet Room will now also be able to go out. Meanwhile, there’s new content to be had outside of the game’s daily activities and life sim aspects as well. Dungeons now feature new, stronger enemy types, while there are also new mechanics in play- though there have been no details revealed on these as of yet.

It won’t just be the Palaces with additional mechanics either- Mementos will see new “events” as well. Meanwhile, the game also has improved visuals, with 4K support for the PS4 Pro, while it also includes a new intro, and new battle music. Improvements have also been made to the UI.

Persona 5 Royal is launching exclusively for the PS4, in Japan on October 31st this year, with a western release confirmed for some time in 2020.

Atlus also announced that Persona 5 has now sold 2.7 million units worldwide, up from the 2.4 million units sales that were announced at the beginning of this month. Tomorrow, Atlus will be revealing Persona 5 Swhich has long been rumoured to be a Nintendo Switch version of 2017’s Persona 5. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
