The Sinking City, a video game inspired by the cosmic terror-embedded stories of H.P. Lovecraft, is up for pre-order now, and publisher Bigben Interactive and developer Frogwares have released a pre-order trailer to coincide with the same, filled with fog and dread.
As you can see from the trailer below, the game drips of dread as you play detective Charles W. Reed in 1920s Massachusetts. While not based on any one H.P. Lovecraft story, it pulls from a lot of Lovecraft’s works, like Call of Cthulu and The Shadow over Innsmouth. You can see the surreal, uneasy feeling the game gives off as Reed wonders into a mystery about the strange flooding of the fictional town Oakmont that evolves into something far more terrifying than he ever could imagine.
The Sinking City will release June 27th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, and is up for pre-order for all platforms now. You can check out some recent gameplay with director commentary to get a feel for what the horror title will bring.
