There’s a lot to look forward to in Nintendo’s upcoming platformer/builder hybrid, Super Mario Maker 2. Unfortunately, it seems there are possibly some features missing, but one thing that’s a big addition to the game is a story mode. There was no real single player dedicated mode in the original Wii U release (though the later 3DS release did feature a large set of Nintendo’s premade levels). Now, we have an idea of how it will function in the game as a whole.
VG24/7 got their hands on the game, and in their preview they got into details about what the story mode would look like. In a nutshell, the story mode is an extended tutorial, but done in a very stealthy way. While the game does teach you how to use mechanics, it does that against the backdrop of fully made levels. So while you are learning, those who want a more in-depth single player experience, or just want a break from player-created levels, still gets something out of it, making it both a learning experience and a fun time. There’s also an endgame, as you are rebuilding Peach’s destroyed castle with tokens you collect through these levels. Check out the video below.
Super Mario Maker 2 releases for Switch on June 28th. And don’t worry, it won’t take up too much space.
