Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Devs Aiming To Have Zero Loading Screens; New Game Plus Unlikely

There will also be a photo mode in the game (probably).

Who says you need to have an SSD or fancy patents to fight against the scourge known as loading screens? Respawn Entertainment are aiming to have zero load screens in their upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Game Informer recently put up an article listing out a bunch of interesting tidbits of information about the game, and revealed that the developers are aiming to have the entire game be completely free of load screens.

That means, of course, that entire maps of the game will be seamless, and there will be no areas sectioned off behind loading screens, while transitions from cutscenes to gameplay (and vice versa) will also be seamless. If the developers achieve what they are aiming for though, this will also mean that there will be no loading screens when you’re travelling from one planet to another- which makes sense, since we already know that during these segments of interplanetary travel, the ship will travel in real time, and players will be able to explore the ship and converse with NPCs that are onboard.

The developers also confirm that they’re looking at including a photo mode in the game, and are quite confident that it’ll be featured in the title at launch- though of course, nothing is set in stone just yet, with a few months still to go before the game has to release.

One thing that is set in stone, is that the game won’t feature a New Game Plus option. As per director Stig Asmussen, a new game + option would be in conflict with its metroidvania nature and pretty much break the progression. “New Game Plus is hard because it’s a Metroidvania-inspired game,” says Asmussen. “So if you start the game with all your abilities, you kind of break things.”

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is out on November 15 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game recently released 25 minutes of raw gameplay footage- take a look through here.
