It was many years in the making (many, many years), but Kingdom Hearts 3 finally came out at the beginning of this year. It was an event in the making, and one that fans found great fondness for. It may not come as a big surprise, considering that hype and the high positions its retained in the sales charts, but the entry has also been rewarded very well financially.
As confirmed via NPD analyst Mat Piscatella on Twitter, the game was the second best selling game of the year’s first half in the US, behind only Mortal Kombat 11. This will make it the best selling entry in the long running Japanese RPG series.
Those who love the series seemed to be into the third game (though really it’s closer to the eighth entry, but who’s counting)- and it isn’t ending since we know that DLC is still on the way. If you haven’t jumped in, Kingdom Hearts 3 is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
US NPD SW – Kingdom Hearts III was the second best-selling game of 2019's first half. Kingdom Hearts III is the best-selling game in Kingdom Hearts franchise history.
