Switch Still Slated To Get More Hardware Revisions – Report

The Wall Street Journal says more versions of the system are still coming.

Nintendo is riding pretty high with their newest console. The Switch has been selling well, and is on track to continue doing so. This year will be a big one for the system, too. It will launch in China at some point and a revision, the Switch Lite, will hit in September. But more big news could be coming soon, as even more hardware revisions are reportedly coming.

For a long time it was rumored that the Switch was on the verge of getting two revisions: a more portable focused one (which we know now to be the Lite), and a “Pro” version that had more focus on power. The latter never developed and some thought that the newer refresh to the regular Switch hardware announced was replacing that idea, if it ever existed.

But according to the Wall Street Journal, that’s not the case. They were one of the first to break the story of the revisions, and they say their sources still say more hardware revisions are coming. No time frame or details are given.

It’s not a huge surprise, all things considered. Nintendo has been infamous about multiple revisions of their handheld devices, and while the Switch is in a weird hybrid state between home console and handheld, they don’t seem to be treating it any different than previous handhelds when you consider the Lite revision. Will the power-focused Pro version of the system ever see the light of day? Only time will tell.
