At Gamescom 2019, Bandai Namco announced Tarsier Studios’ Little Nightmares 2the sequel to the beloved indie horror title. Promising similar thrills and spookiness, it’s looking like an ideal sequel, because on top of building upon its predecessor’s ideas, it’s also looking to make several improvements over the first game as well.

Speaking with Twinfinite, the game’s producer, Lucas Roussel, explained that Tarsier have taken into account the feedback that they received from players of the first game, which was largely positive, but also helped the devs pinpoint the areas that needed improvements. As such, Little Nightmares 2 is going to be a bigger game that will offer more variety in terms of everything the environments to the enemies, on top of improvements to things such as the checkpoint system.

“We had a lot of feedback for the first game, very positive but also things that we could  improve,” said Roussel. “I think one of those was the game’s length felt a bit short. This time we’re targeting for a bigger game with more environments, more variety, and more enemies.

“Also we could have done better with some of the checkpoint systems, when you respawn and the loading times when you respawn that were a bit long. That’s something we took into consideration and we’re going to improve for the second game.”

With an additional character joining the fray and with the game taking place the Maw, in addition to all the combat improvements that the developers promised back when the game was announced, it’s certainly looking like Little Nightmares 2 is going to expand upon its predecessor’s vision. It launches in 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
