Years ago, Beyond Good and Evil came out to a small following, but financially was one of the biggest and most infamous bombs that Ubisoft ever released. No one ever expected a sequel to happen, and while the sequel we are getting seems to be taking things in a much different direction than the original adventure game, it’s still happening- and the CEO of the company thinks it’s going to be a big one.
Speaking with the French site Le Point, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked about the company’s move to the new office in Montpellier, France. He briefly mentioned the game, saying it will have a major impact on the games industry.
“The quality of life in this region can be an asset to bring the best talent,” he said. “Montpellier is a very important world studio for us, which has shown the way to innovation thanks to Rayman. Our teams are currently working on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is likely to have a major impact on video games.”
Interesting to think about, that the sequel/prequel to an infamous commercial flop is now something they think is going to have a major impact on the industry. Beyond Good and Evil 2 is slated to come out at some point in the future, though as of now no release window or platforms have been formally announced.
