Bioware: Mass Effect 3 To Have More RPG Elements, Will Have More Customization And Options

Posted By | On 28th, Aug. 2011

Mass Effect 3 is one of those games that is sitting very high on my most anticipated list of 2012.  And anyone who has played Mass Effect 2 should feel the same.

Even though Mass Effect 2 was one of the stellar games of 2010, it had it’s fair amount of shortcomings. One of them being the fact that the game leaned more towards shooting mechanics over role playing elements, something which was not the case in the original Mass Effect.

Obviously this has got some fans worried for Mass Effect 3. However, BioWare’s Ray Muzyka has confirmed that the team are working on it and the game will have more RPG elements.

“I think the perception is that they want more RPG elements. We have to address that and the thing is, we are. We took that feedback to heart. As great a game as Mass Effect 2 is, and we’re really proud of it, there’s always opportunity to improve. So in Mass Effect 3, we’re improving the moment to moment action”, he said in an interview with NowGamer.

He further continues by stating that they are working on improving a number of gameplay elements.

“We are improving that but we also are improving the RPG elements too so there’s more customisation, aggression options, more interesting choices, the tactical choices, the weapon modification… you can make Shepard the way you want him to be. That personalisation, along with choice, is really the essence of RPGs. Mass Effect 3 has that in spades.”

Mass Effect 2 was one of the biggest games of 2010 and it received several game of the year awards. You can check the Xbox 360 review here and the dumbed down PS3 version review over here.
