It’s clear by now that Sony is billing the PS5 as a major step up over the PS4 in terms of hardware power and capabilities. The console, which is out worldwide in Holiday 2020, boasts a number of impressive specs and features, and Sony recently even claimed that it’s going to be the “world’s fastest console”, while much has also been made about how powerful it’s going to be.

It’s certainly a bold claim, but based on the hardware it will actually include, it certainly seems feasible. For instance, the console’s Zen 2 processor is something that can have a major impact on games and their development. Recently, we conducted an interview with Warriors Orochi 4’s director and producer Tomohiko Sho, and when we asked him about how he views development of games benefiting from next-gen console processors, his response was quite enthusiastic.

“By dramatically improving the processing speed and the amount that can be processed, we anticipate that more advanced AI and larger-scale controls will be possible, and that various advanced and/or high-speed simulations will be possible,” said Sho. “While these may temporarily make development challenging, in the end, we hope for the efficiency of development or automation progresses, so that we will be able to focus more on details and content.”

Recently, Sho also spoke of how PS5 and Xbox Scarlett – and their next-gen enhancements – will help the Warriors series in particular by allowing for larger battle simulations, among other things. Read more on that through here.

Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate launches for the PS4 and Switch in Japan on December 19, and in the west on February 14 next year. Our full interview with Sho will be live soon, so stay tuned.
