Diablo 4 Is Aiming To Support Cross-Play

Whenever it launches, that is.

diablo 4

Diablo 4 is a long, long ways off, and we probably won’t be getting our hands on it for a few more years, but Blizzard have already started teasing out some interesting details. We know, for instance, that the game’s going to feature a shared open world, and that – seeing as it will function essentially as an MMO, with world events, instanced dungeons, PvP arenas, and what have you – it will require a persistent internet connection.

Given that focus on multiplayer, many are wondering if the game will support cross-play at launch (whenever it launches, that is). The answer to that question? Probably.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Allen Adham – co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment and executive producer on the upcoming action RPG – said that cross-play is “a goal” for the development team, and something they are very excited about.

“We’re very excited about cross-play,” he said. “There are technical details and details to work through with the first parties, but it’s our goal to get to cross-play.”

Other details have also emerged on the game in recent days. For instance, it’s been confirmed that the game will have no auction house (though trading will still be possible), while details on level scaling and one of the endgame activities have also emerged.

Diablo 4 is currently without a release date, and probably will remain that way for some time to come.
