The Switch has been extremely successful in Japan since its launch, but the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield has kicked things up a notch. In the newest weekly sales report for video game hardware and software in Japan, Famitsu reports that the console sold over 180,000 units in the country last week—which, to be clear, is more than every other system on sale on the market put together, times twenty. This sales performance has officially pushed lifetime sales of the system in the country to over 10 million units

The PS4 came in second, with 8,000 units sold, and the 3DS, now squarely on its last legs, sold a little over 1,200 units. On the software side of things, Pokemon’s launch has already been documentedDeath Stranding saw an extremely steep drop in its second week, which is in line with how it seems to be performing in the UK as wellStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has apparently had a very modest debut in the country.
