343 Industries seem set on getting things as right as they can with the splintered launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC, which is kicking off with Halo: Reach. A important part of the PC gaming scene is, of course, modding, and Reach on PC will ensure that it fosters a modding community as well.

Taking to Reddit, a 343 Industries rep confirmed that Halo: Reach on PC would allow players to bypass anti-cheat to be able to use mods. This, of course, would lock players out of match-made games, so to play those, you will have to switch back to the game’s original files (so keep a copy).

“We’re still working to improve this down the road, but for now you will have an option when you launch to bypass anticheat,” they wrote. “This will allow you to play around with campaign and customs but not allow you to play any match made games. I highly suggest making a copy/backup of anything you modify so you’ll be able to switch back and forth easily.”

This, of course, also implies that 343 are working on better methods as well, and they intend for this to be a temporary workaround- so here’s hoping improvements are not too far away.

Halo: Reach is out on PC today. 343 have confirmed that the next part of MCC’s PC launch will see a beta for Halo: Combat Anniversary Evolved going live next year. Read more on that through here.
