Though 2019 might not have been the spectacular year that 2018 and 2017 were, it was, by and large, still a pretty great year for video games. But though there were plenty of excellent games released this year, by that same token, there were also plenty of games that – to varying degrees – did not live up to expectations.

Here, we’ll be talking about what we felt were the fifteen most disappointing video game releases of the year, before picking one game from that group that in our view, more so than the other fourteen, failed to live up to expectations.

NOTE: The nominees and winner were decided by an internal vote held among the entire GamingBolt staff.

THE NOMINEES:

GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT

Though Ghost Recon Wildlands was by no means a perfect game, its open world co-op shenanigans were still a lot of fun, and if nothing else, it was at least a good foundation to build off of. Rather than doing that though, Ghost Recon Breakpoint turned out to be the worst mainline entry in the series. Not only did the game not fix most of its predecessor’s issues, it also added a litany of new issues of its own. All of it came together to deliver a muddled, messy, and hugely disappointing experience.
