The Wolf Among Us 2 Bringing Back Creative Leads From First Game, Will Be “A True Sequel”

"We felt it was important to bring back the creative leadership on the title," says the new Telltale's CEO Jamie Ottilie.

The Wolf Among Us 2

Earlier this year, LCG Entertainment acquired the assets and from the shuttered Telltale Games to reform the studio, at which junction they promised that they’d be bringing back many of the developer’s most beloved games and properties. The one that people were most excited about was, of course, The Wolf Among Us. Often considered one of Telltale’s best works, the game’s much-anticipated sequel was cancelled when the developer was closed down.

But the first thing the new Telltale did was re-announce The Wolf Among Us 2 at last night’s The Game Awards. And though the new Telltale’s workforce is radically different from the old one’s in terms of personnel, they’re ensuring that they bring back the creative leads and other crucial members of the first game’s development team, in order to make The Wolf Among Us 2 a “true sequel.”

“We felt it was important to bring back the creative leadership on the title,” the reformed Telltale’s CEO Jamie Ottilie told Forbes in an interview. “The first priority was really on the writers and cinematic directors for the game, as we wanted this to be a true sequel – built by the same visionaries as the original. And it’s likely that we will add other key contributors as we ramp up the team. We will be opening positions in both Malibu and Corte Madera next year.”

It’s also worth noting that Telltale is not handling The Wolf Among Us 2 all by itself. The graphic adventure title is also being co-developed by AdHoc Studios, which is comprised largely of ex-Telltale staff, many of whom were vital members in the development team that made The Wolf Among Us.

Telltale are also looking to make sure that The Wolf Among Us 2 also feels and looks like a Telltale game. As such, other than “incremental changes and improvements” and “some interesting gameplay elements”, fans should expect a game that has very similar presentation to that of its predecessor.

“We felt it important that the first game from the ‘new’ Telltale be presented in a style similar to the original games,” said Ottilie. “The game will look and feel like a Telltale game. There will be incremental changes and improvements that come with the new technology platform, and we have some interesting gameplay elements in mind.”

The Wolf Among Us 2 currently does not have a release date, nor have any launch platforms been announced for the title. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates on the game. In the meantime, the first game is currently free on the Epic Games Store, so go ahead and give it a try if you’ve never played it before- it’s excellent.
