We’re close to the next major Dragon Ball video game release with Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, and it is a little different than what we’re used to, being an RPG instead of a fighting game. Kakarot will cover Goku’s adventures through the entire Dragon Ball Z saga, which, of course, is a lengthy amount of material to cover (even without the filler the original anime was known for, it was one of the longer running anime/manga of the time)- and it seems the game will have a length to match that.
In the recent review from Japanese magazine Famitsu (as complied by Hokanko-Alt here), there was high praise for the game’s recreation of the beloved stories as well as the breezy gameplay and exploration. They also say that it takes 35-40 hours to complete, and even surpasses the 100 hour mark when tackling the various side content.
The game’s marketing has leaned heavily into the nostalgia aspect of the Dragon Ball Z series, and it seems it will at least be an appropriate adaptation in the sense of amount of content when the game releases on January 17th.
