Though there’s plenty of games coming out on the PS4 and Xbox One to look forward to this year, with their successors launching this Holiday, excitement surrounding next-gen games and what they will continuing to ramp up by the day. As one of the biggest publishers in the industry, EA will obviously be under pressure to leverage the new hardware, and as per the company’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen, that is exactly what their next-gen games are going to do.

Speaking during EA’s recent financial call, Jorgensen talked about the PS5 and the Xbox Series X and what the company has planned for both systems, saying that their games for those two consoles are going to do things that will “blow people’s minds.”

“The power of the new consoles is gonna be substantially greater than existing consoles. You will start to see things over the next couple of years that we’re doing with games that will blow people’s minds,” said Jorgensen. “That’s the fun part of this business, that we’re going to see so much innovation not just with us but across the whole industry, and that’s why you’ve seen growth across the software business as part of this overall video game business in every single console cycle over the last 20+ years.”

It goes without saying that EA’s probably had a lot of irons in the fire for next-gen consoles for a while now. They’ve already confirmed that the next Battlefield will release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, while they also recently spoke about the future of The Sims heading into next gen.

The Sims developer Maxis is working on a new IP as well, which is most likely going to be for next-gen consoles. Meanwhile, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s sequel is probably in the works at Respawn, which isn’t surprising considering how well the game is selling. And that’s not the only Star Wars game we can expect to see in the coming years- a recent leak claimed that EA is working on a Knights of the Old Republic re-imagining as well, and if that is real, it’s probably going to release on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
