While the big spotlight for the DBZ franchise in the gaming space is on the recently released Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot (which is going incredibly well for itself already), we did recently also get a peek at the future of Dragon Ball FighterZ. The game was confirmed to be in line for a Season 3 after some degree of doubt. It’ll go into Dragon Ball Super by introducing Kefla and Ultra Instrinct Goku. But a leaked audio clip may point to another saga getting represented as well.
A leaked audio clip that was datamined from the game shows Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Gogeta (try saying that three times fast) saying a phrase familiar to old school fans: “Hey, you think you can give me a hit here next? This shoulder is killing me.” It’s said to Omega Shenron at the end of Dragon Ball GT. While this clip is rather old, as you can see from the date on TheCreepsAreReal’s Twitter, it’s gotten renewed interest now that we know for sure another season is in the works.
GT was a sequel series to Dragon Ball Z, but one whose story was not overseen by series creator Akira Toriyama. Dragon Ball Super has basically decanonized that saga, but characters and designs find their way into the games frequently. Omega Shenron was the final fight of that series and was defeated by a different version of Gogeta. The sound clip could be nothing or a coy reference, but we know three more characters are coming. We’ll have to wait and see how this pans out.
I found this audio in the FighterZ files and so I have decided to animate it. Still working on it! pic.twitter.com/KJ0q0quvQ8
