Square Enix and People Can Fly recently pulled back the curtain on the upcoming Outridersa new IP created by the studio behind Bulletstorm that promises to deliver looting-shooting action, cover-based shooting, and a new sci-fi universe for players to dive into. As one of the first games to have been confirmed as a launch title for the PS5 and the Xbox Series X, people are quite curious about what it’ll have to offer, and in a new video interview, the game’s developers talk about the process of building a completely new universe from scratch.

Art Director Bartosz Bieluszko and Technical Art Director Krzysztof Dolas talk about how the prospect of creating a brand new IP was “terrifying” at the beginning, but that the process slowly gave way to the flow of exciting new ideas for the story, the setting, the art, the gameplay mechanics, and more. There’s also some interesting glimpses at the world of Outriders in the video, so take a look below.

Outriders is due out for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC this Holiday. The developers have downplayed the idea that it’ll be a live service game, and are instead promising that they’re “launching with a full game.”
