After removing the listings for both titles from the PlayStation Store, Sony is now issuing refunds for digital pre-orders of The Last of Us Part 2 and Marvel’s Iron Man VR. This is following the delay of both games due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Originally, both games were slated to release in May.

Over on PlayStation’s Support Page, it states clearly that, “The Last of Us Part 2 and Iron Man VR have been delayed. All digital pre-order consumers will automatically receive a refund. Please check your email for more details.” This is attributed to both games being delayed “indefinitely” as opposed to having new release windows, but could also be a matter of convenience for some customers.

With the PlayStation Store listings removed, customers with digital pre-orders who don’t keep up with the news might wonder why. Sending out refunds could be Sony’s way of answering any potential queries while also avoiding backlash from delaying both games.

As it stands, Naughty Dog clarified why it couldn’t just release its game digitally. It wants to ensure that “everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part 2 around the same time” especially since downloading the game isn’t a universally feasible option. The developer will work on sorting out any “logistic issues” in the meantime and noted that this wouldn’t be a long delay.

Stay tuned for more details on both titles in the coming months.
