Of all the major third party developers, EA is the one that is most averse to releasing remasters of older games (which is surprising, since it’s easy money for them). They have released a few of them, sure, but one series millions keep demanding a remaster for that has been roundly ignored by the publisher is the original Mass Effect trilogy.
Last year, EA stated that they would be releasing “exciting remasters of fan favorites” in financial year 2021 (which ends on March 31, 2021), and now, they have re-iterated that statement. In their recent quarterly financial briefing, the publisher confirmed that it will be releasing a new unannounced remaster (which they’ve called “EA HD title”) before the end of the current fiscal year, but no platforms were mentioned, so it’s like that it’ll at the very least be a cross-gen release.
A remastered compilation of the Mass Effect trilogy is something fans have been asking for a long time, while many have also been demanding remasters for the Dead Space games. Either one of those two would invariably make millions of people happy.
In the same briefing, EA also confirmed that it plans on releasing multiple games on the Switch this year. Read more on that through here.
