Over the course of three decades, Creative Assembly has stood the test of time. While the studio is primarily known for the Total War franchise, one of the most popular and influential RTS brands ever, they have dabbled in a lot of different genres and franchises. One of the most notable for some people is the Alien franchise with the critically acclaimed, but unfortunately financially unsuccessful, Alien: Isolation. Today their history gets profiled by the good folks at NoClip.

The documentary follows the UK studio from humble beginnings in 1987 of essentially a one-man show to one of the largest developers in the region. I’ve often tried to highlight the documentaries from NoClip, but I think they’ve outdone themselves with this one as they show the ups and downs of this storied development house, such as the struggles of founder Tim Ansell who gives a lengthy interview. There’s far too much for me to parse here, so definitely check out the video below.

Creative Assembly continues on, focusing specifically on their Total War series, with the newest one, Troy: A Total War Saga, planned to come this year as well as a new FPS that we heard about last year.
