Ubisoft have generated plenty of hype for Assassin’s Creed Valhallabut though a lot of people are very excited to get their hands on the game, an equal amount of people are disappointed that they haven’t really shown any gameplay footage at all. With the first trailer of the game having been a CG video and the second one barely showing any actual gameplay, there have been a lot of questions about when real gameplay from the upcoming open world RPG will be first shown off.

According to creative director Ashraf Ismail though, there’s no cause for concern. He assured fans not too long ago that Ubisoft would be showing plenty of Valhalla gameplay going forward, and in a recent interview with The Washington Post on YouTube, he did so again, asking fans to be patient.

“My focus is on building the game and building this experience and setting the vision and the intentions of this experience,” Ismail said. “We have marketing teams, it’s their job to market the games. People need have patience with us and remember we just announced the game about two weeks ago. There’s a long road in front of us. People should not at all doubt they will see a plethora of gameplay.”

Ismail went on to explain that Ubisoft not having shown gameplay yet is also related to the logistics of development, saying that the development team hasn’t yet gotten to a point with the game where it’s ready to show a good, solid chunk of gameplay footage.

“Most people don’t realize that from a development standpoint, there is a need to pace that out, because at some point, the team needs to be focused on building the game,” he said. “And that’s where my energy goes and my team’s energy goes. Into building that game and making sure we can reach moments where we can say, ‘You know what? We’re going to take a chunk of the game and show it to people.'”

Ubisoft have announced their own E3-style digital event for July, called Ubisoft Forward, where they will be sharing new reveals and updates on their upcoming games. It would be safe to assume that we’ll be getting our first real, long look at Valhalla during that show.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is out later this year for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and Stadia. A recent retailer leak suggested that the game will be releasing this October.
