With its promise of loot-driven cover combat and its focus on world-building and story, Outriders is a game that many have kept an eye on for some time. Recently, developers People Can Fly promised a new monthly broadcast series to share new updates on the game, and in their first broadcast, which is nearly 30 minutes long, they revealed plenty of new details.

After spending a bit of time on things such as the game’s setting and storytelling style, the video dives headfirst into some crucial gameplay mechanics. It’s been confirmed, for instance, that Outriders will have a World Tier difficulty system similar to The Division. There will be a total of 15 World Tiers. The first one is designed for those who want to enjoy the game’s story, and as the game gets progressively more difficult with each new tier, so, too, do the loot drops become more plentiful (and useful). World Tiers will scale based on how many players you’re playing with, but you can adjust these whenever you want if you want an easier (or more difficult) experience.

Loot has also been detailed. Each character can equip five pieces of armour and three weapons, and both are customizable, both in terms of cosmetics, and through perks that will yield various different results. Each of the classes also has unique abilities that players can use in combat. From a total of eight abilities per class, a character can have three equipped at ay given time. The video takes a deep dive specifically into the Trickster class and four of its abilities, many of which are focused on time manipulation in some form or the other.

In June’s broadcast, People Can Fly will be showing off plenty of new content, including characters that we will be seeing in the story and a new area that they haven’t yet shown. In addition to that, they will also be shifting focus from the Trickster to the Pyromancer class.

Something else that’s worth noting is that the developers stated toward the end of the video that Outriders will be a complete game at launch, and they’re not adopting a games-as-a-service model for it, which is something they’ve said before as well.

Outriders is out this holiday for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
