While we don’t have an official release date just yet (though we have a good idea of what month), we’re most likely less than four months away from the launch of Microsoft’s next generation console, the Xbox Series X. The company is set to have a game’s showcase later today, and one would assume we will hear more details about the game’s launch. Well, fingers crossed there, but it seems that before that, Microsoft is doing what they can to build the hype for said launch.
In the most recent earnings call, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella talked in part about the upcoming launch. While he didn’t offer any specifics, he talked up the launch lineup for the system, saying they are looking at having attention grabbing first and third party titles, and that the launch will be the largest around, not just in Xbox history, but in console history.
“In content, we are delivering differentiated, first and third-party content to attract and retain gamers,” he said. “Xbox Series X will launch this fall with the largest launch lineup for any console ever.”
It’s quite the bold statement, but it’s also consistent with what Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, said about the system’s library being one of the most diverse ever. Can they back that up? Well, hopefully, we’ll see later today.
