Back in May, as Microsoft were gearing up to kick off their marketing cycle for the Xbox Series X with steady info drops about their next-gen plans, they planned to do so under the “Xbox 20/20” branding, with monthly events and shows falling under that banner. But though the first of those – the event in May – did have that branding, it hasn’t been since then.

Now, they have updated their original post on the official Xbox website about Xbox 20/20, confirming that that phrase has now been dropped. They write in their update that they want to be more flexible in how information on the Xbox Series X and next-gen plans in general is doled out, from new events to new updates on Xbox Wire, and as such, the Xbox 20/20 branding doesn’t make sense for that going forward.

“After reassessing our programming for the rest of the year, we’ve decided to stop using the ‘Xbox 20/20’ phrasing as it implied that we would be releasing information in one way only, through a dedicated monthly show,” the update reads. “We’ve got so much more to share with news about Xbox Series X, new games like Halo: Infinite, and cloud gaming via Xbox Game Pass. We’re going to share that news in a variety of ways. It may sometimes be a dedicated show, YouTube videos, partnering with others, or sharing the latest via Xbox Wire. We want to stay flexible with how we connect with you.”

Microsoft’s last dedicated next-gen event was in July, where they unveiled a host of new upcoming games for the Xbox Series X, both first party and third party. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has said that more information will be coming later this month.

Recently, leaked packaging of the next-gen Xbox controller seemingly confirmed the existence of Xbox Series S, or Lockhart, as it has been known up until now. Supposedly, we’ll be hearing more about this cheaper, less powerful next-gen Xbox within the next three weeks.
