The Coalition’s Gears 5 will receive an upgrade for Xbox Series X/S next month which sees Dave Bautista taking the place of Marcus Fenix in the campaign. That’s not all though – speaking to IGN, the developer confirmed other content that would be available in the next-gen update. New Game Plus is included and allows progression, including upgrades for Jack and unlocked skins, to carry over.

One can also expect new character skins for Kait, JD and Del; new weapon skins, Mutators like Big Head Mode; and new Achievements. New difficulty modes are also being added, namely Ironman and Inconceivable. Principal lead producer  Zoë Curnoe stated that Ironman would be similar to how the mode players in XCOM.

“You’re trying to play through with one life [in Ironman mode]. That’s really challenging and that’s where bringing over your OP Jack is going to help you get through that. Or certainly playing through co-op if you’re both in Ironman, that would be a really fun thing to challenge as well. So we certainly loved the couch co-op challenges for Gears.” Inconceivable, on the other hand, will be tougher than the current highest difficulty and should serve as a strong challenge for expert players.

Gears 5 arrives for Xbox Series X/S on November 10th alongside both next-gen consoles. We’ll also see the release of Gears Tactics, a turn-based strategy title developed in conjunction with Splash Damage which will be making the jump to consoles. Another Gears 5 update will be coming in December with story content for Hivebusters so stay tuned for more details.
