Monster Hunter Rise

Nintendo will be hosting a 50 minute long Nintendo Direct today, showcasing new details on Switch titles releasing in the first half of 2021. Monster Hunter Rise is coming to the console in that time span so it would make sense to have an update. Over on Reddit, PracticalBrush12 – who actually leaked the game’s announcement several months ago – had some new information to share.

He noted that two new areas, one sandy and the other volcanic, would be in the game. Confirmed monsters include the return of Volvidon and one that looks like Agnaktor. Details on the much-discussed Rampage were also revealed – it’s essentially a fight against five different monsters simultaneously as they attack a fortress.

Using Dragonators and ballistas, players will be tasked with stopping them. The area itself is fairly long and somewhat like tower defense with players able to enlist NPCs on Rampage quests. Apex Monsters are also making a comeback, though whether they function the same as in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate or not remains to be seen.

The leaker also noted that Hinoa and Minoto, the twin Maidens of Kamura Village, wielded a bow and lance respectively. Take this all with a grain of salt but PracticalBrush12’s record has been solid thus far. Monster Hunter Rise is currently slated to release on March 26th for Nintendo Switch.
