Google Stadia Could Be Playable On Xbox Via New Web Browser

Well, that's unexpected.

Stadia

It looks as if Google’s Stadia service is fated to be one of Google’s many services that are short-lived. The company has already shut down all their first party studios dedicated to Stadia before they produced anything, and while there are still games being announced for it, it’s hard to see what level their mindshare really is. But if you are into Stadia, it seems it could be coming to Xbox…kind of.

In a strange twist, it seems that the new and updated web browser that is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S will be Edge Chromium powered and, as originally reported by The Verge, alpha testers reported that it does support Google Stadia. So while this is not an official thing, in theory, it could mean the streaming service could be accessed via Xbox consoles.

As of now, nothing has been said by either party, and the browser is still in testing even if it is public. It’s known that Microsoft is working on their own web browser based streaming, so whether or not Stadia will continue to be allowed via the browser when the update is finalized is anyone’s guess.
