Elden Ring Reveal May Have Been Delayed Due to Recent Leak, Could Still Happen at E3

Journalist Jeff Grubb believes the recent Elden Ring leak has led to a change in plans for Bandai Namco.

There’s been a complete dearth of Elden Ring news and updates since the game was announced at E3 in 2019, and FromSoftware fans have been getting antsy with each passing day, but recent developments have provided a glimmer of hope nonetheless. An internal trailer of the game was recently leaked, while reports have suggested that the game will be getting a re-reveal by the end of March (even though a launch this year seems unlikely at this stage)- it seems, however, that we’re going to have to wait a while longer for the reveal as well.

GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, who’s been on the forefront of Elden Ring reports these past few weeks, recently said in a video that the game’s recent leak has caused Bandai Namco to delay the game’s upcoming reveal, as the publisher figures out what the messaging for the game should be, and gets to the bottom of how the leak happened. According to Grubb, however, a reveal of the game at E3 this June is still likely.

“I’m less certain [of a March reveal], and I’m less certain because I think that the leak might have messed things up a little bit,” Grubb says. “But I still think things are happening, things are coming together. The reason I think the leak might have messed things up is I just think Bandai Namco is cracking down, figuring out how to adjust the messaging, make sure they fully understand how the leak happened, and then continue down the path toward officially announcing the game.

“And there’s going to be opportunities for them to do so. If they don’t want to do it on their own – they could do it on their own – but if they don’t want to do it on their own, if they want to do it with a partner, June is not that far away. E3 is coming. If I were gonna put it on the list, I would expect it by E3, and no later.”

Bandai Namco recently filed a trademark for “Bandai Namco Next”, leading many to speculate that they could be preparing a Nintendo Direct-style presentation in which they could re-reveal Elden Ring. Whether that’s what actually ends up happening, or if they take the stage at, say, Microsoft’s E3 show, or do something else entirely, remains to be seen. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more updates.
