It’s been quite the wild ride for fans of FromSoftware’s Elden Ring. From rumors noting a reveal in the near future to a leaked trailer being circulated online, it seems that some kind of update will be coming soon. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who corroborated the leaks, already noted that the action RPG has been delayed several times already.

VideoGamesChronicle spoke to individuals who had knowledge of the game’s development and revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic is to blame. Due to restrictions from remote working, development has been hampered significantly. One individual close to the project even noted that the game was unlikely to release this year due to these issues.

Elden Ring isn’t the only project to be affected by remote working conditions over the past year. Even Sony’s Gran Turismo 7, originally slated to arrive in the first half of 2021 for PS5, was delayed to next year following COVID-related production challenges. Stay tuned for further updates in the meantime including a proper reveal of the alleged leaked trailer.
