Resident Evil Village – Capcom Sends Warning About Fake Early Access Invite Emails

The emails are phishing attempts and the company urges you to just delete them.

One of the most anticipated games of the year is Resident Evil Village. The game will hit multiple consoles this May, and routinely tops the charts of games most looked forward to. Unfortunately, though, it seems as if someone is using that anticipation and popularity for nefarious means as the game’s developer has now sent a warning out about fake emails.

Capcom sent out a press release to sound the alarm about fake beta invites that are ending up in people’s emails. The emails are listed as Early Access invitations and are coming from no-reply(at)capcom(dot)com, but those emails are not coming from the company. They are apparently a type of phishing attempt by unknown entities. Capcom has urged people to not open the emails, not to download anything from them, and it’s best just to delete them altogether. As of now there is only a single demo for the game, the “Maiden” demo on PS5, and no public or private beta or early access is currently planned.

“We want to inform you that these messages are NOT from Capcom and appear to be phishing attempts by an unauthorized third party. If you have received such a message, please DO NOT download any files or reply, and delete the message immediately.”

Resident Evil Village will release on May 7th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.
