The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD’s Motion Controls Are “Smoother and More Intuitive Than the Original Version”

Those who want to stick with motion controls are still in for a better experience, Nintendo says.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is a divisive game among the Zelda fanbase, and though there are many, many reasons for that, one of the ones that stands out is the game’s focus on motion controls. Eschewing traditional button controls and leveraging the Wii’s waggle controls fully, the game put the Wii Remote to full use in everything from combat to flight controls.

The upcoming Switch remaster, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HDwill give players the option to opt for an alternate control scheme where motion controls are instead assigned to the right analog stick. But if you do decide to stick with the game’s original motion controls setup, you’re still going to be in for a better, smoother experience- or so says Nintendo, at least. The Big N recently took to Twitter to confirm that the game’s upcoming Switch remaster will feature “smoother and more intuitive” motion controls than the original Wii release.

Skyward Sword on the Wii could often be hampered by moments of the motion controls being unresponsive or inaccurate, so it’s quite a relief that the Switch remaster is going to try and iron out those issues (or so it seems, anyway).

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD launches for the Switch on July 16.
