Another week, another new update for the PS5, which is becoming the norm with Sony’s new console. The update, software version 21.01-03.20.00, is mostly a series of fixes that improve system performance, but there are some notable changes here. Full patch notes can be access on the PlayStation Support page.

Aside from the standard system performance improvement, the DualSense device software had been updated to improve stability. According to users on Reddit, the DualSense update also fixes a battery indicator bug which resulted in the low battery icon blinking constantly even when the battery was not low on charge.

In addition, an issue that reduced functionality when screen readers were enabled was also fixed, hidden games that were now hidden on a user’s PS4 will remain hidden on PS5, and copying games from extended USB storage devices to the PS5’s SSD should now be more stable.
