Following the technical alpha that took place in April, the development team at Blizzard Entertainment has outlined changes and improvements coming to Diablo 2: Resurrected. It noted that spells like Lightning, Blizzard and Holy Freeze would be seeing VFX updates to better represent their respective properties. The VFX when monsters were damaged or immobilized by spells and status effects has also undergone a change following feedback.
In terms of animation updates, mana and health regeneration will now align with the health and mana globe filling. Icons have also been updated to “bring out the more brilliant colors, bring more attention to the focus point(s), and add clarity to the image.” You can expect the same improvements to weapons, armor, quest items and more.
A number of quality of life improvements like large font modes, UI scaling on PC and gamma/contrast settings are also being added in order to make the title more accessible (with further details coming in a later blog post). Players can also expect options to toggle item names on or off with the ability to press and hold also remaining intact. The Shared Stash is also being increased to three tabs instead of one.
More other changes like the automap having a faint overlay on hitting tab and the ability to orient the minimap left, right or in the center at fullscreen size have also been added. Diablo 2: Resurrected is out on September 23rd for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
