WB Games’ future in the games industry has looked shaky in recent months, but it seems like it still has plans for some pretty big and ambitious games. A recent leak on Reddit, for instance, has caught a fair bit of attention. The person posting the leak refused to provide any proof to verify their claims, but interestingly enough, journalist Jeff Grubb soon corroborated it (barring one part).

According to the Reddit leak, a crossover platform fighting game inspired by Super Smash Bros. is currently in the works at WB Games, and apparently has been in development “for a while.” The leaker claims it’s a “tag team game”, though whether that means two characters can switch and out on the fly or will be used in another way remains unclear. Apparently, though, synergy between certain characters seems to be a thing.

The leak goes on to list a surprisingly varied list of characters from across various properties, including the likes of Scooby Doo’s Shaggy, The Lord of the Rings’ Gandalf, Batman, Fred Flinstone, Johnny Bravo, Mad Max, Tom and Jerry, and more.

Interestingly enough, recently, journalist Jeff Grubb also took to Twitter and corroborated the leak, saying that a crossover platform fighter is indeed in development at WB Games, but contrary to what the Reddit leak claims, it’s not being developed by NetherRealm Studios (who’re apparently working on Mortal Kombat 12).

As for what the game might be called, the original Reddit leaker updated their original post and added a link to a recent trademark filing by Warner Bros. Entertainment for something called Multiversus– whether or not there’s any connection here remains to be seen.

Of course, as is always the case with unverified leaks, it’s best to take this with a grain of salt for now. WB Games has previously said that it plans on focusing its game development efforts on properties that are already owned by Warner Bros. so making a crossover fighter featuring several of those characters certainly seems like an intriguing idea. Whether it actually comes to fruition remains to be seen.
