Valve has been making big promises with the Steam Deck, and the Steam Deck, in turn, has been making big waves. The device was announced with a planned December 2021 launch window, and with December less than a month away, many are starting to wonder when the exact release date will be announced. Well, it seems like it’ll be a while longer.

Valve has announced that the Steam Deck has been delayed by two months, and will now begin shipping out to users some time in February 2022. Valve cites material shortages and manufacturing hurdles as the reasons for the device’s delay, and confirms that the entire reservation queue will be shifted over to kick off in February as is, which means everyone in their will keep their place in line and get their shipment accordingly.

“The launch of Steam Deck will be delayed by two months,” Valve writes. “We’re sorry about this—we did our best to work around the global supply chain issues, but due to material shortages, components aren’t reaching our manufacturing facilities in time for us to meet our initial launch dates.

“Based on our updated build estimates, Steam Deck will start shipping to customers February 2022. This will be the new start date of the reservation queue—all reservation holders keep their place in line but dates will shift back accordingly.”

The Steam Deck’s official FAQ page confirms that the US, the UK, the European Union, and Canada are still the only places where reservations are open. There’s still no word on other regions, and with this delay, it’s likely that those plans will have been affected as well.
