Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic - Remake

As developers of the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – RemakeAspyr Media have massive responsibilities on their shoulders. Remakes of beloved games always have to strike just the right balance between staying true to the originals and trying new things for a modern audience, but where KOTOR is concerned, how exactly is it going to do that? Well, it looks like where the combat is concerned, it’ll be doing more of the latter.

In a recently uploaded video. YouTuber MrMattyPlays claimed that as per an anonymous source that has allegedly leaked correct information about the in-development remake in the past, the new rendition of KOTOR is going to drop the turn-based combat system of the BioWare original and instead adopt a full action-based combat system.

Allegedly, this will be taking inspiration from games such as God of War and Nioh, which should give you an idea of what direction it’ll be headed in. MrMattyPlays also claimed that the game would have various modes, and speculated that these could be similar to the combat modes of Final Fantasy 7 Remake (which also offered a Classic mode to emulate the command-based combat of the original game).

Of course, this is an unconfirmed and unverified leak, so for now, you should take this with a grain of salt- though admittedly, it does seem very likely that this is indeed the direction the remake will take.

Either way, with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake still a ways off from launch, it’s probably going to be a while before we get any concrete details on it. Whenever the game launches, it’ll be available only for PS5 and PC.
