It seems a native PS5 version of Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play battle royale shooter has been spotted in the PS Store backend.

The vast majority of successful live games have made the jump over to the new generation of consoles by now, but there are still a couple of notable examples out there that haven’t yet received native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S updates. One of those is Respawn Entertainment and EA’s free-to-play battle royale shooter Apex Legends– though that could be changing soon.

Over on Twitter, PlayStation Game Size (an account that tracks updates to the PlayStation Store backend) has spotted a native PS5 version of Apex Legends, with a file size of over 80 GB (without any updates). That’s significant because there has been no official word about the game’s current-gen updates- or more specifically, when exactly they will release.

Back in August of last year, Respawn Entertainment said that it was still in the process of bringing the game over to the new consoles, and that cross-progression was also in the works, but updates on both fronts have been scant since then. It’s possible, however, given this recent development, that that changes soon.

As it stands right now, Apex Legends is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and is playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility.
