EA Announces its Games Won’t be Available to Purchase in Russia Amidst Ongoing Conflicts

Earlier this week, Electronic Arts announced that it would be removing the Russian national teams and Russian football clubs from the FIFA and NHL games. Now, the publishing giant has announced that it will be discontinuing all sales of EA products in Russia and Belarus.

In an official announcement on the company website, EA confirmed that the all of its games and related virtual currency won’t be available to purchase in Russia and Belarus until the ongoing siege of Ukraine comes to a halt. All related online services for these games won’t, of course, be available either.

“We have made the decision to stop sales of our games and content, including virtual currency bundles, in Russia and Belarus while this conflict continues,” the company states. “As a result, our games and content will no longer be available for purchase in our Russian region storefront on Origin or the EA app, including through in-game stores. We are also working with our platform partners to remove our titles from their stores and stop the sale of new in-game content in the region.”

Microsoft has also recently disbanded sales of all its products in Russia in light of the same events. GSC Game World – the developer behind the highly anticipated S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl – has also sidelined development of the game due to the ongoing conflict in the region- read more on that through here.
