"We're certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations," says 343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard.

Halo Infinite

343 Industries’ Halo Infinite launched last December to strong critical acclaim with its free-to-play multiplayer and Game Pass availability propelling it past 20 million players. However, it’s faced a number of problems since launch with multiplayer desync, lack of new content and delays for promised features like Forge and campaign co-op.

Community director Brian Jarrard recently tweeted about the March Community Update for Halo Infinite, which covers happenings from the previous month. To “manage expectations accordingly,” he clarified that the upcoming Infinite blog would focus on Season 1 feedback themes from the team. “While some work items are confirmed coming in S2, many others are in earlier/various stages of development with no firm ETA yet.”

This didn’t quite go down well with some community members. On Reddit, one comment asked for more clarity on how short-staffing was leading to delays and Jarrard replied that, “There are indeed a lot of challenges and constraints. We’re certainly not happy to be unable to meet player and community expectations, it’s a difficult situation that’s going to take the team time to work through.

“Right now the focus is on S2 and we’ll have more to share on that in the coming weeks. Meanwhile a lot of production planning, costing, planning, hiring, etc.. is all happening which doesn’t really lend to detailed regular updates. We understand the community is simply out of patience and frankly, I think understandably tired of words. We just need some time for the team to get the details sorted and then we can certainly share as much as we can.” As one may expect, this response didn’t go down too well either.

343 Industries has confirmed that Season 2: Lone Wolves will feature two new Spartans – Spartan Sigrid Eklund and Spartan Hieu Dinh – along with a free armor core. There’s also a new Fracture armor core, new modes like Last Spartan Standing and Land Grab, and new maps like Breaker (Big Team Battle) and Catalyst (Arena). Though it won’t be available at launch, campaign co-op is slated to arrive sometime in Season 2.
