Halo: The Master Chief Collection Will Continue Adding “High-Quality Features” Throughout 2022

Though the compilation's seasonal content model has been dropped, 343 Industries says it will still continue to release updates throughout this year.

Halo The Master Chief Collection

Halo: The Master Chief Collection had a tough start, but to 343 Industries’ credit, the developer stuck with the collection and, over time with consistent improvements, tweaks, and additions, turned things around quite significantly. Last year though, 343 said that it would be stopping its periodic seasonal updates for The Master Chief Collection as focus shifted primarily to Halo Infinite– though as we recently found out, there’s still life left in the collection yet.

Recently, 343 Industries released a major new update for The Master Chief Collectionadding Flood Firefight in Halo 3: ODST, cross-platform campaign co-op in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST, campaign customization in Halo 4, and much more. And it seems the developer wants to keep support for the game going, even after having brought its seasonal model to an end.

In a recent Halo Waypoint blog detailing the aforementioned update, 343 Industries said that it would continue to add new “high-quality” features to The Master Chief Collection throughout this year. The developer wrote: ”

Of course, there’s plenty of questions about how frequently these updates will arrive, what their scope will be for the mast part, or what sort of new features they will bring. What about what lies beyond 2022 for the collection thought? Well, 343 does have something to say on that front, which is, in honesty, quite vague, but suggests that support for The Master Chief Collection won’t be entirely dropped abruptly.

“Once we have wrapped up the updates throughout this year, the team will continue to engage with the community and find areas of opportunity to adjust as needed for MCC,” 343 Industries wrote.

Meanwhile, Halo Infinite is what 343 Industries is focusing on first and foremost now, and the shooter’s free-to-play multiplayer component will be receiving its second season – called “Lone Wolves” – in a couple of weeks.
