In early March, Ukraine-based developer GSC Game World announced that it had put the development of upcoming open world horror first person shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl on hold, with the studio’s staff having been forced to sideline the project and instead focus on working to ensure the survival of its employees and their families amidst their country’s invasion by Russia.

Now, it seems the game’s development has resumed. As spotted by Polish site GRY Online, over on the game’s official Discord server, when asked what the status of the game’s production is behind the scenes, one of the developers confirmed that development had resumed, saying: “It continues.”

Earlier, it was reported that GSC Game World had shifted part of its team to Prague, Czech Republic in order to be able to continue working on the game. How much of the team has shifted, how much of it remains in Ukraine, and what percentage of the staff is currently working on the shooter hasn’t been mentioned, but it does seem like work on it is back underway once more.

Of course, there isn’t much clarity yet on when S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will launch. Shortly before its development was put on hold, the game was pushed back to December, but at this point, there’s no word on how its release timeline has been affected by recent developments.
