The Callisto Protocol has received some new screenshots and details courtesy of Game Informer’s 346th digital issue. Posted by Okami Games on Twitter, one of the images is very Dead Space-esque in terms of gameplay. Check them out below.

Along with being on track for 2022 (publisher Krafton has said it would release in the latter half of the year), the survival horror title is also seemingly slated to release for Xbox One and PS4 along with Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Neither the publisher nor developer Striking Distance Studios have mentioned this recently so perhaps an official announcement is due later- unless this was an error. Either way, hopefully we’ll know for sure soon enough.

Gameplay-wise, in addition to ranged combat, there will be melee combat options for players to rely on. The protagonist Jacob can also use “GRP” abilities to pull objects towards him, which sounds like Kinesis from Dead Space. As for the grotesque-looking foes, they’re called Biophages. One image seems to indicate that they were created in a lab within the Black Iron prison colony.

It’s thus possible that the bit about aliens invading was a lie (and that the warden may be responsible for unleashing them on the populace). Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
