V Rising

V Rising, Stunlock Studios’ vampire survival action RPG, has been a pretty strong success since launching on PC via Steam Early Access. It’s sold over one million units thus far and has an 88 percent “Very Positive” rating from its 21,133 user reviews. A new update last week added offline play and a recent patch improved performance and stability.

But what are the developer’s long-term plans? In a new blog post, it revealed that while there is a goal in mind for the game, “our path is not all set. We’re oiling the axles of our wagon, making sure the horses are well-fed, and making sure that everything is in order before we cast ourselves into the wilds.”

The current focus is on “bug fixes, balance changes, server optimization, and quality of life improvements.” Stunlock will then analyze data and feedback from the first few weeks of early access. New material is currently in the works that should “inject more life into Vardoran, but improving on the game is more than just adding more content on top of what we already have. We’ll have to improve on the entire journey to make sure V Rising will reach its full potential.”

It also quoted marketing director, Johan Ilves who said that the current plan is to “work on more extensive updates rather than run for frequent smaller patches and minor changes. It’s too early to tell when the first bigger V Rising content patch will arrive, as we will give it the time to make sure it brings something new to the experience. This will require more patience from you as a fan! Meanwhile, we will do our best to make sure the first content update will be worth waiting for.”

As such, players can look forward to more weapons, loot and sorcery along with new V Bloods, new challenges and new regions to explore. You’ll also have other ways to improve your castle. The team’s concept artists have also begun creating some possible scenarios that could come in the future. Check it out below.

For now, the developer will take some time to regroup and then present some new details for this Fall and “beyond.” Stay tuned in the meantime.
