Given how surprisingly good its predecessor turned out to be, it’s no surprise that A Plague Tale: Requiem is one of the more highly anticipated games of the year for a great many people out there. Recently publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Asobo Studio confirmed that the action-adventure sequel’s specific launch date will be announced soon, and now we know when to expect it. The game is out in October.

The release date announcement is accompanied by an extended gameplay showcase that shows a meaty chunk of the game, as an injured Amicia and Hugo are once again pursued by soldiers. It starts with a chase sequence, before giving way to a brutal and tense stealth section that shows off many of the game’s tools and weapons in action, and finally ends with Hugo controlling a massive swarm of rats to take out a number of foes. It’s looking like an exciting follow-up, to say the least. Check out the full trailer below.

Meanwhile, Asobo Studio has always confirmed that it has partnered with Nvidia to implement ray tracing and DLSS technology in the game’s PC version.

A Plague Tale: Requiem launches on October 18 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, as well as for Nintendo Switch as a cloud-exclusive release. It will also be available via Xbox and PC Game Pass at launch. A Collector’s Edition was also unveiled earlier this year. Read more on that through here.
