Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Game Freak has released a new trailer for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, its next mainline Pokemon sequels. Though it’s titled “Competitive Play,” it showcases new moves, items and Terastallization (except against other players as opposed to AI opponents). Check it out below.

A new Pokemon, Cyclizar, is also showcased. As a Dragon/Normal Type, it’s capable of Shed Tail, an ability that allows for creating a substitute and swapping places with another Pokemon in your party. Among the new items are Mirror Herb, which copies an opponent’s stat increases when consumed, and Loaded Dice, which increases the chance for multi-strike moves to hit more times.

The new Terastallization mechanic is also briefly showcased. It allows a Pokemon to change Types and potentially turn the tables on an opponent. There’s also a unique ability, Tera Blast, which can change type when the user is Terastallized.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are out on November 18th for Nintendo Switch.
